The next "best thing"
Its what makes me smoke a cigar, drink bourban , spend all day smokeing a pork butt. Yeaterday while I was smokeing a flor de oliva it occured to me one of the simple truths in life for me I love to chase the perfect cigar , the best cooked pot of rice Ive ever made, drive a car thats a little faster than the last one, in short the next " best thing". Yet another great thing about cigars they make you slow down long enough to see things which were right in front of you.
Speaking of cigars as mentioned above, yesterday I burned a FLOR DE OLIVA rubusto natural wrapper, what a great cigar and a great price to boot. Pre light was fresh and sweet like farm field in spring. The body was well constucted and firm no noticable defects. The pre light draw was a little loose but nothing to really complain about. Upon lighting I was greated with a pleasant cigar aroma which seemed to get sweeter as I smoked ( very earthy and sweet ). The flavour had hints of carmel whith some spice in the fist two thirds very nice if not just a little underwelmig, on the last third the flavor changed to almost like a Mocachino with some tobacco thrown in for good measure. Had to re light a couple of times, could have ben me, the ash was fairly long but a little flakey, burn line was nice and straight. All in all a very nice smoke, but after I finished went to work looking for the Maduro version of this cigar hopefully just a little stronger flavor. Come to think of it the "next best thing" , its one of the things that makes me want to get up every morning....

Magicos Cubanos Robusto
Pre light:
Very nice, faint hint of just cut grass almost sweet.
Construction:
This Cigar seems to be well made , no soft spots, nicely wrapped no blemishes.
Smoke:
Lights easily with a nice easy draw. Lots of nice smoke, first flavors are a little funky , has a slight cedar taste in the background. Burn is very straight, with an ash that holds on for about 1.75 to 2 inches a little on the loose side with a grayish white color. About 10 minutes into the cigar the funky flavor seems to fade away and the cedar and sweetness prevail, although nothing that's going to knock your socks off. Into the last third all flavors intensify a bit, smoke becomes more voluminous . The cigar burns nice and cool right to the very end, all in all not a bad every day smoke and one which I think will get better with a little time in the humidor, I'm no expert but it just seems a little young.

It's really really cold...
The temperatures are stupid cold this week, and to top it off we are expecting snow in the next 24 hours. That suck's.. Oh well on the bright side I just got some new cigars, looking forward to trying them, I may not make it until Saturday.

CAO, maduro gold, robusto
Construction:
Dark coffee brown, smooth, and well built. It was tightly packed with no soft spots. All in all, a beautiful guitar.
Pre-Light:
Very weak earthy aroma. Nothin' special.
Burn:
Very even. Ash was white to light gray. Did not hold on for very long (1/2 an inch at the most). Volumes of smoke, nice aroma.
Flavor:
Uninspired..
Vaguely like that of a cigarette.
No fruit, no cedar, no..nothing.
May try another CAO, but time to move past this.

Olivia series O, Robusto.
Construction:
Beautifully constructed, firm with no soft spots. The wrapping was dark brown with very fine veins, a work of art.
Pre-Light:
Woody earthy tones, very nice, gets your mouth watering.
Burn:
Very even, nice white ash. Easily up to 1.5 inches, good smoke.
Flavor:
First-third almost harsh..
Distant hint of pepper. No cedar or fruit as promised. Can't hold a candle to the G series which had more flavor after first-third than anything I've tried thus far. The O was an overall disappointment, maybe it was just a bad stick. I will try again to see, but as of now I will move on to other smokable expenditures.

Rocky Patel-Vintage 1990
I have heard much talk of Rp decided it was time to try one of these sticks, wow im glad that I did.
Construction: In a word solid, beautifully made very smooth wrapper small veins. Dark coffee brown oily with no soft spots. A cigar work of art.
Pre Light: Light earthy aroma, not mouth watering but not bad at all.
Smoke: Easy light, volumes of creamy smoke sweet with undertones of vanilla and slight touch of cedar more towards the fruit. No harsh tobacco taste here. The ash is whiteish gray and hung on for almost the first third. The burn was as straight as anything I have ever seen , like it was cut with a razor. The draw on this cigar was like everything else on it not too loose and not to tight, just right. All in All the best cigar I have had from start to finish, not quite as much flavour as the oliva g series ( after the first third ) but the RP was good, not perfect but good all the way through. Smoke time was around 1 hour. I now want to try the oliva series G again to see if the first third of the last one was just a fluke. This is a cigar I will smoke again.
